A chaotic staff is a magic weapon released with the Dungeoneering skill on 12 April 2010. The staff requires a Magic level of 80 and a Dungeoneering level of 80 to wield. At least two million Dungeoneering experience is required to attain the 200,000 tokens needed to purchase this item. It gives a +20% damage boost, and is currently the strongest staff usable outside Daemonheim. The Celestial Catalytic Staff exceeds it inside the dungeons of Daemonheim.
After approximately 10 hours of combat, the chaotic staff will degrade completely and must be recharged before it may be used again; it has a 20% charge on purchase. Once these charges have been used up, the weapon can be recharged for a fee by the rewards trader. To do so, right-click on him and select "Recharge" with the depleted weapon in your inventory. There are two methods of recharging: cash or a combination of cash and dungeoneering tokens.
The Magic damage of this staff is currently the highest outside of Daemonheim, and the fact that it doesn't require any attack level to wear makes it perfect for Magic pures or mages without the required attack level, even though it doesn't reduce the need of runes like the staff of light.
It has fairly high melee attack bonuses too, with the same crush stats as a dragon battleaxe, but even faster.
Warning: As with all chaotic items, players will not receive a warning message when attempting to drop their chaotic staff.

Trivia
- It should be noted that the 10 hours of combat that all chaotic items last for, are measured in 1 game tick (600 ticks per 1%) per attack made AND received. It is thus possible to have your Chaotic items degrade at faster rates if you are under attack from multiple enemies, or get attacked by enemies with fast attack rates like Scarab swarms.
- The chaotic staff used to cost 400,000 Dungeoneering tokens before the 21 April 2010 update.
- If dropped in the Wilderness, a player receives 40,000 coins.
- Due to an update in July 2012, the chaotic staff is now held in a more up-right position. Rather than at an angle across the body.
