A Water staff is a magical weapon that provides unlimited water runes when wielded. It requires 1 Magic to be wielded. It can only be made, used and found in Daemonheim. A water staff is also a possible drop from the Unholy cursebearer. At level 10 Runecrafting, it can be made from any type of staff that can be obtained within Daemonheim. Keep in mind that the better the kind of staff used to make it will affect its stats. This is the only staff that free users can create, inside Daemonheim or not. There is a chance of getting this in a starting equipment set on Floor 1.

Making the staff

One will need to buy a tangle gum staff or fletch it, which requires level 8 fletching, and use it on the runecrafting altar to make a water staff. Making a water staff gives only 5.5 Runecrafting exp and 5.5 Magic exp, and is not a good way to earn runecrafting xp, since air runes, with air runecrafting gloves, give 10 xp per essence crafted, which is only 1 less than that of a water staff. However, a tangle gum staff costs 612 coins when bought from the smuggler, which can be problematic if not many coins are found in the dungeon.

It is worth noting that, while very slow, it is possible to make a profit by buying tangle gum branches, fletching them into staves, making those tangle gum staves into water staves and high alching them using a fire staff, having bought the essences and crafted the nature runes at the minimum possible level. Tangle gum branches cost 225 coins each from the smuggler, rune essences cost 50 coins each for a total of 275 coins of material cost, while the water staves high alch for 330 coins. Note, this does not count the 1650 coin material price of a fire staff (1 set of blood spindle branches).

Note: Powering a staff can be achieved at any Runecrafting altar in Daemonheim. With a staff on your person, use it on the altar and make your selection from the staff options. A powered staff of a particular tier can only be made from a wood that is of the same tier or higher.
