The God staves are the only staves that grant the player acess to the Mage Arena spells, along with the Void Knight Mace, which can cast Claws of Guthix. As an expection, the Armadyl battlestaff is not necessary to cast its corresponding spell, the Storm of Armadyl, but it speeds up the spellcasting of the spell by 16,6%.

To be able to use the Mage Arena spells, the player must cast them 100 times within the Mage Arena (splashes will count) before being able to cast them outside of the arena. To get additional god staves, the player must pay 80,000 coins per staff (except for the Armadyl battlestaff). These spells can now be autocasted through the spellbook, however, a God staff must still be wielded in order to allow the spell casting (except for Storm of Armadyl).
