The Mystic mud staff is the most powerful mud elemental staff. It requires 40 Attack and Magic to wield. It provides an unlimited amount of water and earth runes, both of which are used in curse spells. To create one, a player must take a mud battlestaff to Thormac after completing the Scorpion Catcher quest, along with 40 000 coins, 27,000 with the Seers' headband 3 or Ring of charos (a)(i) equipped. Also worth noting is that it is the only mystic staff that doesn't conform to the normal 'brown stick' design. Visually, the Mystic mud staff is identical to the mud battlestaff.
Since the release of Dungeoneering, the Tome of frost provides a cheaper alternative than a Mystic mud staff and can be used in conjunction with other staves to provide a different combination of runes. Although, they require at least 48 dungeoneering and 43,000 tokens.
With 85 Crafting, players may attach a shade skull to the Mystic mud staff, creating a Necromancer's mud staff.
