Examine | A mace used by the order of the Void Knights. |
Weight | 1 kg |
The Void knight mace can be bought from a Void Knight for 250 commendation points, although a player must have 42 Attack, Strength, Defence, Constitution, Ranged, and Magic, along with 22 Prayer. This mace is unique because, even though it is a melee weapon, it offers good magic bonuses and can be used to cast the Claws of Guthix spell.
This weapon is slightly better than a rune mace, with an additional +2 for Stab, Slash, and Crush Attack; +2 Stab, Slash, Crush, Magic and Ranged Defence; +2 Strength; +2 Prayer; and +8 Magic Attack. This makes it one of the only melee weapons in game to have a positive ranged defence bonus, other than the Red topaz machete and Lunar staff, with +1, and the dragon spear and Zamorakian spear, with +5 and +13, respectively. To cast Claws of Guthix, the player still must have cast the spell 100 times in the Wilderness Mage Arena. A Guthix cape is not required to cast Claws of Guthix if a Void knight mace is equipped, but still recommended for it allows the player to cast Charge which makes the spell more destructive.
Since it could autocast Claws of Guthix, it was occasionally used on Dagannoth Rex by mages in the past.
It was once used to autocast spells, before the 2nd of September, 2009. The spells it used to autocast include Crumble Undead, Claws of Guthix, and Wind, Water, Earth, and Fire Wave.
As of the "Changes to Autocasting Spells" update in September 2009, the Void knight mace can inflict 10% more magic damage, increasing the max hit of Claws of Guthix to 220, or 330 with Charge. With this update the mace is now, in even more ways, stronger than a Guthix staff, not only granting the 10% extra magic damage but also mediocre melee bonuses and an ample +6 Prayer bonus, making it a good weapon against monsters weak to magic. It is especially useful against those monsters that require a prayer defence against, notably Mithril dragons.

Trivia
- Even though the Void Knight mace has a fair stab attack bonus, it does not have a stab attack (due to the staff-like layout of the attack style tab),
- The Void Knight mace bears a vague resemblance to the Iban staff. The difference between these two weapons is the spells used to be casted, and that the staff is longer and wooden, and the mace is short and metallic.
- Wielding the Void Mace with an aura causes an outline of a staff to glow, instead of a mace. This has not been fixed yet.
