The Armadyl battlestaff is a Magic staff that requires 77 Magic and 40 Attack to wield. It is created by attaching an orb of armadyl to a regular battlestaff, which requires 77 Crafting and grants 150 Crafting experience.

The Armadyl battlestaff is most noteworthy for its effect upon the Storm of Armadyl spell. When Storm of Armadyl is cast with an Armadyl battlestaff equipped, its attack speed is raised from 5 to 6. Aside from the Blitzer class of a ring of kinship, this is the only way to cast a Magic spell more quickly than the standard speed of 5. In addition to this effect, the Armadyl battlestaff supplies unlimited air runes when wielded, as a mystic air staff. Furthermore, it provides a +15% bonus to Magic damage, the second highest bonus outside of Daemonheim in the game, tied with the staff of light, and behind only the chaotic staff's +20% bonus.

Lore

The Staff of Armadyl, a powerful god weapon from which the Armadyl battlestaff is descended.

As a weapon of the god Armadyl, the Staff of Armadyl was one of the most powerful artefacts to ever exist in the world of Gielinor. It was instrumental in the overthrow of Zaros by the then-Mahjarrat Zamorak, as well as his successive ascension to godhood. An entire organization, the Guardians of Armadyl, was formed in order to guard the staff in its resting place, the Temple of Ikov. However, it was eventually stolen by the Mahjarrat Lucien, who wielded it in order to advance his goals of conquering the world and, much as Zamorak had done, attaining godhood. The staff's power was so great that Lucien, who was perceived by the other Mahjarrat as among the weakest of their kind, quickly became one of the strongest beings in the world, unmatched in combat and able to defeat many of the world's heroes at once. Once Lucien obtained the Stone of Jas as well as the Staff of Armadyl, his overwhelming victory seemed inevitable.

However, during the events of Ritual of the Mahjarrat, Lucien was defeated by a trio of dragonkin, who had become enraged by Lucien's misuse of the Stone of Jas. During the battle, the Staff of Armadyl was broken when Sakirth the dragonkin struck Lucien with it, shattering the staff's head. The fragments of the orb that once adorned the staff's head were later recovered by glacors, creatures of ice that had been summoned by Lucien. The Armadyl battlestaff may be created by collecting these shards and combining them into an orb of armadyl, and attaching to a battlestaff. Although the Armadyl battlestaff carries but a small fraction of the power of its predecessor, the Staff of Armadyl, it is nonetheless a formidable weapon in the hands of a human adventurer.

Trivia

  • Despite the fact that Storm of Armadyl, the companion spell to the Armadyl battlestaff, requires completion of Ritual of the Mahjarrat to cast, the staff does not require completion of the quest to wield.
