Zuriel's staff is a one-handed degradable weapon obtained by killing Revenants and the Chaos Elemental. It unlocks the Miasmic spells from the Ancient Magicks spellbook, which, if successful, lowers the foe's Ranged and Melee attack speeds by 50%. This means that Ranged and Melee attacks have their damage-per-second reduced by 33%, contrary to the popular belief that it would double the cool-down time of these attacks. For example, a whip (4 ticks) would attack at battleaxe speed (6 ticks) under the miasmic effects, instead of dark-bow on rapid (8 ticks).
The corrupt version requires 20 Attack and 20 Magic, and lasts for 15 minutes of wielding. Meanwhile, the normal version requires 78 Attack and 78 Magic, and lasts for an hour of combat. After the time is up, the item disintegrates.
Most players who have 78 attack would buy the non-corrupt Zuriel's staff as the price differences between them are very small, yet the corrupt staff degrades much faster. The price of corrupt Zuriel's staff is largely affected by pures who don't have 78 attack and thus have to use a corrupt version of the staff to use Miasmic spells.
- As an hour contains 6000 ticks and a magical spell is able to be casted once per 5 ticks, you are able to cast 1200 combat spells with this staff before it degrades. Thus, each spell costs approximately an extra 739.2 coins when using this staff, in addition to the runes that have to be used.
Contrary to popular belief, this item does not degrade while using NON-COMBAT magic.
On 2 September 2009, this staff was amongst the few to receive the ability to cause 10% more magic damage.

Trivia
- This staff seems to be holding the missing miasmic diamond from Desert Treasure.
- Miasmic spells can be cast on NPC's, however it will not slow down their attack speed.
- When withdrawn as a note, the image on the bank note is of a broken Zuriel's staff, with the head detached from the shaft.
- This is the only weapon in all of the Ancient Warriors' Equipment that does not have a special attack, although it does unlock a new set of spells.
- Although there was an updated version of the staff in the teaser pictures for the updated Zuriel's armour, the staff wasn't updated along with the armour. This may be unintentional, like with the Void knight deflector and Full slayer helmet (now fixed) and may be updated later on.
- On the homepage, the updated Zuriel Staff's sillohette is in the background of the bonfires banner. The specific reason for this is unknown, but it may be a potential spoiler of what is to come after the wild weekends are over.
