The Lunar staff is a magic weapon and piece of lunar equipment. 65 Magic is required to wield the lunar staff. It is created during the Lunar Diplomacy quest by using a dramen staff on the air, fire, water, and earth altars (in that order), but it may also be bought from the Oneiromancer after a player has completed the quest. Unfortunately, the Oneiromancer has a fixed sequence in selling the Lunar equipment. The staff is the first one on sale.
After a certain stage of the quest has been completed - after the initial lunar staff has been fabricated and handed to the Oneiromancer - a player can no longer recreate the lunar staff; for this reason, some players will make several lunar staves for their own use before turning one over to the Oneiromancer. At a later stage in the quest, the Oneiromancer returns the staff that the player gave her, but the player remains unable to make new staves. After the quest, if a player loses his or her staff, the Oneiromancer will sell another one for 30,000 coins. As of 2 September 2009, the autocasting feature doesn't require a staff anymore.
As an enhanced dramen staff, the lunar staff can be used to access Zanaris and use the Fairy ring transport. After completion of Fairytale III - Battle at Orks Rift neither the dramen nor lunar staff are required to use the Fairy Network and can be considered useless with exception to the Magic and Prayer Bonuses, see below.
This item is one of the items not kept on death.

Trivia
- Players can make more than one staff during the Lunar Diplomacy quest. However, they will need a small collection of dramen staves from Lost City and enchant them all during the quest. After the quest, this is no longer possible.
- The headpiece for the staff appears to resemble the Greek Caduceus, or the twisted serpents, which is the familiar symbol of the Greek god of thievery, Hermes.
