Rune platelegs are the strongest F2P non-degradable platelegs, and can be either be bought at Seddu's Adventurers' Store in Nardah, Scavvo's Rune Store in the Champions' guild, or from other players in the Grand Exchange. They can also be made with the smithing skill at level 99 using three rune bars, giving 225 experience. They can be worn with 40 Defence. It is the second highest quality leg armour available to free players, only being lower than Corrupt dragon platelegs. They have all the same stats as the Rune plateskirt, but are one kilogram heavier. Due to their low price and decent defence bonuses, they are very common to see in Member worlds or on low-mid level players. However, some higher level players who don't want to spend the money on Dragon Platelegs, Barrows armour or Bandos Tassets sometimes purchase these. Despite the fact that Granite armour requires a higher defence level to equip the Rune Platelegs are superior to the Granite legs in every way other than the ranged and summoning defence bonuses.
It is possible to receive these from the Crystal Chest in Taverley, opened with the Crystal key, and from the columbarium.
