The Adamant platebody is the third-best standard platebody. A player with 88 Smithing can make an adamant platebody by using five Adamant bars on an anvil while carrying a hammer or a golden hammer, granting 312.5 smithing experience per platebody. It requires level 30 Defence to wear. Adamant platebodies are often used by players who can wear Rune armour but have not completed Dragon Slayer (although Rune chainbody is better), or cannot afford a Rune platebody.

Economy
Most adamant platebodies enter the game from smiths who use them to gain fast experience. Smithing adamant platebodies can be over 200,000 smithing experience per hour; however, over 850,000 coins are lost per hour as well. The experience can be gained at half price if Sacred clay hammers are used. If a player uses a fast Stealing Creation clan they can attain about 3-4 hammers per hour. Playing non-combat Stealing Creation the average stealing creation points per hour are 90-98, this equals to 4.5-4.9 hammers per hour. Overall, it takes more time per exp point, but most players find it well worth it to do this as it is a rather significant difference in gp per unit of time spent playing.
The maximum amount of platebodies one could theoretically create per hour is 1500, assuming no time is wasted banking; this is because the time it takes to create a platebody is 2.4 seconds. Thus the maximum exp/hour from smithing these is 937,500 exp/hour with sacred clay hammers, also the cost of this would be 2,200,000 coins.
Practically, assuming a need to bank for 8 seconds per batch of 5 adamant platebodies, the number of platebodies created per hour would be around 937.5; a player would thus gain 585,000 exp/hour with sacred clay hammers, and incur a cost of 1,375,000 coins per hour.
Most adamant platebodies leave the game by high alchemy, due to their Grand Exchange price being lower than their high alchemy price.
At current Grand Exchange prices, making and selling one adamant platebody would cost Expression error: Unexpected < operator. coins. This is Expression error: Unexpected < operator. coins/XP (with neither a Sacred clay hammer nor a scroll of efficiency).
With a Sacred clay hammer and scroll of efficiency, at current Grand Exchange prices, making and selling one adamant platebody would average Expression error: Unexpected < operator. coins. This is Expression error: Unexpected < operator. coins/XP.
Treasure trail versions
Decorative versions of the adamant platebody (as well as other adamant armour) may be obtained from level 2 Treasure trails. The decorative versions give the same stats as the regular version, but cost more. Trimmed armour may only be obtained through treasure trails or purchase. Players cannot trim armour themselves, or smith trimmed armour. Though only obtainable by members, they are available to free players.

However, the price to buy an adamant platebody from Valaine is 16,640 coins, which is far more expensive than the Expression error: Unexpected < operator. coins it costs to buy an Adamant platebody on the Grand Exchange.
Trivia
- When first released, the adamant platebody cost was 40,000 coins in the store, but the price was later lowered.
- Adamant platebodies are the heaviest re-obtainable objects available in F2P.
- High alching Adamant platebodies provides a cheap path to 99 magic. This is effective as a profit is made (about a Expression error: Unexpected < operator. coins profit).
- The trimmed and heraldic versions have lower alchemy values than regular adamant platebodies, despite being worth much more.
- After the new updated look in 6 March 2012, it is hard to see necklaces when you're wearing it.
