Statius's platebody is part of Statius's Equipment, and is obtained by killing Revenants in the Forinthry Dungeon or the Chaos Elemental.
It requires 78 Defence to wear, and lasts for 1 hour of combat. That means that you can wear it and sell it again as long as you don't fight anything, just like Barrows Equipment. The corrupt version requires 20 Defence and lasts for 15 minutes after you equip it. You will know when it's degrading when a "(deg)" appears after the name of the item. After the time is up, the platebody will vanish.
A good method of gaining something back from the item before it vanishes is to have your character die in the wilderness when skulled. You will lose the item but gain approximately 1.5m coins in return if you return to where you died. This method is more lucrative then alching the item before it vanishes. This can be achieved by poisoning then allowing your character to die, or getting a trusted friend to kill you.
Contrary to popular belief, this item does NOT degrade while using NON-COMBAT magic. This platebody currently has the second best Strength bonus in the game for chest armour, behind only Vesta's chainbody. It has the sixth highest stab and ranged defence bonuses in the game, behind only the Torva, katagon, gorgonite, promethium and primal platebodies, and the eighth highest slash defence after the previous four dungeoneering platebodies, ganodermic poncho and the promethium and primal chainbody.
