Kalphite guardians are found in the Kalphite Hive south-west of Shantay Pass, near the entrance to and inside the Kalphite Queen's room.
Strengths and weaknesses
Kalphite guardians can be very dangerous for lower levels. They can hit for up to 124 life points in melee, and often. Furthermore, any attack that successfully inflicts damage will poison you, starting at 68 life points. Using Protect from Melee to absorb the damage does not prevent them from inflicting poison against you. Kalphite guardians can be safely ranged from a couple locations (safe spots), however they are fairly strong against ranged attacks. A somewhat common tactic is to poison them with a dragon dagger (p++) then back up and range. Kalphites are most vulnerable to crush attacks and range, however most players still prefer to use abyssal whip or dragon scimitar for training. Keris is also highly effective for training against kalphites along with Guthan's Barrows set and Korasi's Sword, which is a highly effective way to kill all kinds of kalphites. Kalphites have a low magic resistance, making training Magic on them highly effective even at low levels, especially if you take advantage of the safe spots.
Strategies
Players who do not wish to fight kalphite guardians head-on can safespot them with Ranged or with any halberd (preferably dragon). Players can stand behind the square of stalagmites in the south-west corner of the room with the tunnel leading down to the Kalphite Queen. This room contains has two kalphite guardians and is the only room with safespots. Using Ranged or a halberd may be time-consuming though, so strength potions and attack potions are useful to make the killing process faster; a Dragon halberd is very much recommended for this. It is also useful for players to take a shield and weapon, such as the keris, and attack the guardians head-on every now and then. This allows players to kill them even more quickly while having the option to continue halberding them while waiting for lifepoints to replenish. The problem with the keris lies in its relatively low stats compared to other weapons, and the chances of triple damage occurring is quite low; the triple damage may not be so effective due to the low bonuses. If players plan on ranging kalphite guardians, a 60+ Range level is recommended as well as a rune crossbow with mithril bolts or better.
One of the most effective ways of killing them is to simply melee them with an anti-poison totem. Without the totem, melee is still simple by bringing several super antipoisons, players can cure themselves of poison and be granted temporary immunity from poison. Players may also bring a prayer book obtained from The Great Brain Robbery quest along with a holy symbol to expend prayer points to cure poison. In addition, players can wield the anti-poison totem obtained from Dungeoneering. Good armour, food, and a Summoning familiar that can heal are useful. Since the area is multicombat, players can also use a combat familiar.
As with all poisonous creatures, kalphite guardians can poison through prayer, so players should keep that in mind.
Kalphite guardians have a very slow respawn rate and players should decide if they should kill some more. The only way to solve this is by waiting for them to respawn, which takes a minute or so, or climb down to the Queen's chamber, where there are two more kalphite guardians. However, using that spot is HIGHLY dangerous as the Queen can occasionaly wander on the other side of the room and begin attacking you, which can quickly lead to a quick death unless players are busy killing her.
The fastest but most expensive way to kill kalphite guardians is use a dwarf multicannon against them. The area unlocked after the Do No Evil quest is good for this. It is a small, open cavern that houses two kalphite guardians and several kalphite soldiers. It is also multicombat, permitting the use of combat familiars.

Trivia
- When the anti-poison totem was first released, there was a glitch where the kalphite guardians were still able to poison you. This has since been fixed.
