The Soul rune is the highest levelled rune in RuneScape. It is used for the strongest curse spells, the teleport-other spells, the shadow spells, the blood barrage spell and the Miasmic spells in Ancient Magicks. They can be bought from the Magic Guild in Yanille, Ali Morrisane in Al Kharid (via the Rogue Trader activity), or Baba Yaga, who lives in the walking house, in Lunar Isle.
Soul runes are the only conventional type of rune that cannot be crafted using a normal Runecrafting altar. However, images for Soul talismans and Soul tiaras exist, and upon gaining level 90 Runecrafting, a message used to be displayed telling the player that he/she could now craft Soul runes. There is a soul rift in the abyss and an obtain soul rune option on the wicked hood; however, they can not be used.
The Ourania rune altar allows runecrafters to craft a random selection of runes, including the soul rune. This altar gives double experience for each rune crafted, and some simple arithmetic suggests that the normal experience for crafting each Soul rune would be 11xp.
In RuneScape Classic, Soul runes cost 2500 coins each in the store, but cost only a few hundred coins in RuneScape 2.

Trivia
- The most Soul runes required for a spell is 4, for the Miasmic Barrage spell.
- The value of 1 Soul rune in Investment Credits in Mobilising Armies is 124 Investment Credits.
- Shadow Rush is the lowest level spell that requires Soul runes.
- This is the only rune that cannot be created through Runecrafting at a formal altar yet, though it can be created by using the Ourania Altar on P2P worlds.
- Although Soul Runes cannot yet be crafted in the conventional means, there is a Soul Rift in the Runecrafting Abyss. It cannot be entered.
- With the addition of the Wicked hood, a spot is reserved for the Soul Talisman/Tiara, being empty till the Runecrafting altar and its equipment becomes available.
- In addition, using QuickChat, the phrase "I'm going to craft rune: soul runes" can be said.
