Dagannoths are sea-based monsters that live in the Lighthouse basement. After players finish Horror from the Deep, regular dagannoth are found there.
There are two varieties — level 74 and 92. The level 74 uses a ranged attack that hits up to 100, but has poor accuracy. The level 92 dagannoths uses melee, which is more accurate and hits up to 80. These dagannoths are in a multi-combat area and therefore many players use dwarf multicannons to train here. This is an excellent place to level both ranged and melee skills (and, to a lesser extent, magic). This is also a very good place to quickly obtain gold charms as dagannoths usually drop 1 charm every 2-3 kills. Since this is a multi-combat area, familiars will attack and the Dragon 2h sword's special attack, chinchompas and Ancient magicks may prove useful. Despite the combat level of these dagannoth, they are considered very weak by most players. Like all dagannoths, these are weak against the Balmung. They also seem to be susceptible to poison.
If you are planning to stay here for a longer period, Bones to Peaches is a good way for healing and one of the most cost effective ways. Alternatively, players can bring a healing familiar, such as a bunyip. Swallow whole scrolls are suggested as these dagannoths drop raw fish quite frequently. The use of Guthan's armour is also a good way to stay for an extended period of time, but since it degrades, it is not always the best method of healing. You can also bring a Saradomin godsword and use its healing special attack to restore some life and prayer points since it only uses 50% of the special bar. Some players choose to bring noted food, sell it to Jossik on the first floor, and then buy it back in unnoted form for a small loss.
If you are going to stay here, whether it be for a slayer task, experience, or charms, a good idea for higher levelled players is to tank the damage. Bring along an Enhanced excalibur, and you can survive longer. It is recommended that one brings along another set of armour, like the Rune platebody and Dragon platelegs. This will prolong the life of Guthan's armour. Unlike the dagannoth found in other locations, the dagannoth here do not drop hides of any variety. Hide hunters will need to go to either the Chaos Tunnels or Waterbirth Island. These dagannoth are good for rushing the task or if collecting Gold charms. Crimson charm collectors will need to either use the Chaos Tunnels or Waterbirth Island.
A good reason why high levelled players might want to train here is because dagannoths have fairly high lifepoints, they do very little damage, and with the help of Balmung, bunyip and decent armour (along with Enhanced excalibur), it is almost impossible to die (high Defence highly recommended to tank for longer periods of time). You only need a few monkfish in case things go bad and you can survive for hours. Also, dagannoths drop torstol seeds as a rare drop. Thus, these are one of the best monsters for high leveled players to train on, in terms of both profitability and experience.
