Saradomin godsword
Saradomin godsword

The Saradomin godsword is one of the four legendary godswords that was fought over during the God Wars. Requiring 75 Attack to wield, it is created by attaching a Saradomin hilt to a completed godsword blade, which has no requirements and can be done by any player. Along with the Armadyl godsword, the Bandos godsword, and the Zamorak godsword, the Saradomin godsword carries the highest slash bonus and second-highest strength bonus of all melee weapons in the game, aside from certain weapons in Daemonheim, Stealing Creation, and the Dominion Tower.

Like all godswords, the Saradomin godsword has a special attack, Healing Blade, which deals 10% extra damage and restores the wielder's life points and prayer points according to the damage dealt, using 50% of the special attack bar.

Uses

Healing Blade is noteworthy for being one of the few special attacks that can restore life points, and the only special attack that can restore life points and prayer points. If the attack hits, it will always restore a minimum of 100 life points and 50 prayer points; for hits above 200 damage, it will restore life points equal to 50% of the damage and prayer points equal to 25% of the damage. For example, a hit of 400 will restore 200 life points and 100 prayer points. Furthermore, the special attack restores life points and prayer points according to how much damage the special attack would have done; for example, if the special attack kills the target, life points and prayer points are restored based on what the attack would have hit, rather than the target's remaining life points.

The special attack of the Saradomin godsword is very effective for completing Slayer assignments, and for melee training and monster killing in general. It can greatly prolong trips and reduce or eliminate the need for food and/or prayer potions. Although it may be used for player killing and fighting bosses, these are less popular uses for the Saradomin godsword, as the special attack energy is commonly reserved for high-hitting weapons such as dragon claws or the Armadyl godsword. Additionally, Healing Blade may be used to recover life points lost from training certain skills, such as pickpocketing NPCs for Thieving training. The usefulness of the Saradomin godsword, as well as the relative difficulty of fighting Commander Zilyana, has raised the weapon's price and made it the second most expensive godsword, behind Armadyl's.

The Saradomin godsword is sometimes compared to other sources of healing, such as the set effect of Guthan the Infested's equipment. While the Saradomin godsword also restores prayer points, does not degrade, is much stronger than Guthan's warspear, and takes up only one item slot, it is also far more expensive and its healing is arguably more limited than that of Guthan's set.

Trivia

The updated Saradomin godsword concept art, as shown in 16th BtS video.
  • Like the other godswords and the God Wars Dungeon itself, the Saradomin godsword received a graphical update in September of 2012.
  • For a time, there was a bug whereby the Saradomin godsword's minimum healing was too high. For example, the godsword healed a minimum of 199 life points and 99 prayer points, instead of 100 and 50 respectively, if used by a player with 93 Strength and a +163 strength bonus. This was fixed in an update.
  • The Saradomin godsword is the only sword to maintain a look similiar to the former godswords before September 2012.
