Avantoe seeds can be planted in a herb patch in order to produce grimy avantoes. This requires a Farming level of 50.
A nearby gardener will not watch over your growing avantoe.
Avantoe seeds can be obtained as a monster drop, by pickpocketing Master Farmers, from Managing Miscellania if your workers are assigned to Farming, or bought from the Vinesweeper minigame for 1250 points each.
The planting of avantoe seeds is very profitable, and therefore players are advised to make sure that the herb does not die. Supercompost (or Fertile Soil spell) is strongly recommended, as this is the best way of preventing your herbs from getting disease, as it is not possible to water the patch nor ask a farmer to tend the herbs.
The following table shows the profit yield, assuming all the herbs and seeds are purchased/sold at the Grand Exchange, for the guide price. If the herb dies, you will lose −1,306 coins.
Herb yield | Profit/loss | Herb yield | Profit/loss |
