The Third-age amulet is a members-only piece of jewellery that is part of the Third age mage set. To wear the amulet the player needs at least 30 Defence and 65 Magic. To obtain a third age amulet the player can either complete a Level 3 Treasure trail or trade with another player.
It is currently the second best tradeable amulet for magic. Saradomin's hiss surpasses its attack bonus by 1 and gives an additional 12% damage.
It is currently the most expensive amulet in the game, followed by Saradomin's whisper.
It was the first amulet that gave +15 to an offensive stat, with +15 magic, beating out the Amulet of Glory and Amulet of Fury, both of which have +10 in all attack stats. However, as of 28 July 2009, with the release of the Amulet of ranging (+15 Ranged), it shares the record. It is one of very few amulets that require a level to equip.
It was long thought that the chance of obtaining a piece of third-age armour was about 1 in 10,000 (according to Paul Gower); it was revealed that the odds are between 1/100,000 and 1/1,000,000.<ref>Mod Maylea.
