Third age range coif

The Third-age range coif is a member's only piece of armour that is part of the Third-age ranger set. To wear the coif, 45 Defence and 65 Ranged are needed. A third age range coif can be either obtained by chance with the completion of a Level 3 Treasure trail, bought from another player, or bought from the Grand Exchange. Because it is difficult to obtain, it is rarely seen in game.

As of 24 April 2011, this coif has the 4th best Ranged attack bonus of all helm items in RuneScape, and the second best bonus of non-degradable Ranged helms. Pernix Cowl is currently the best Ranged helm, and the Armadyl helmet is currently the best non-degradable helm. From the front, the coif resembles a Sacred clay coif.

It was long thought that the chance of obtaining a piece of third-age armour was about 1 in 10,000 (according to Paul Gower); it was revealed that the odds are between 1/100,000 and 1/1,000,000.<ref>Mod Maylea.
