Third-age vambraces are a members-only piece of armour that are a part of the Third age ranger set. To wear vambraces, 45 Defence and 65 Ranged are needed. Third age range vambraces can be either obtained by chance with the completion of a Level 3 Treasure trail, bought from another player, or bought from the Grand Exchange.
These vambraces give the joint highest Magic defence bonus, along with the spellcaster gloves, of any items worn by one point above black d'hide vambraces in the glove slot. Even with the highest magic defence bonus of any glove item, it is rarely seen because it is so expensive and difficult to obtain.
On 14 December 2010, when damage soaking was introduced, the knowledge base incorrectly stated that this item had the ability to soak some damage while in-game it does not. This has not yet been fixed.
It was long thought that the chance of obtaining a piece of third-age armour was about 1 in 10,000 (according to Paul Gower); it was revealed that the odds are between 1/100,000 and 1/1,000,000.<ref>Mod Maylea. Trivia
- The third-age vambraces are the cheapest third-age items obtainable from Treasure Trails, slightly cheaper than the third-age range coif.
