The Hand cannon shot is an item used as ammunition in the hand cannon, released with the quest Forgiveness of a Chaos Dwarf on September 9 2009.

They can be obtained by killing Chaos dwarf hand cannoneers, which drop them in stacks of 100. Currently, these have the highest range strength of any item, beating out Morrigan's javelin by 5 points.

Trivia

• The Hand cannon shot has a similar inventory picture and 3-D model on the ground as a medium Runecrafting Pouch, but of a slightly lighter colour.
• The Hand cannon shot won't appear on the ground after shooting, unlike most other ranged ammunition. The powder is used up like in other firearms, the cannonball would most likely be too damaged to fit correctly into the barrel (as seems to be the case with normal cannonballs), and the cloth bag holding the shot is most likely discarded.
