The Yew shortbow is a shortbow stronger than the maple shortbow which may be used to fire arrows up to rune. Yew shortbows require a Ranged level of 40 or higher for the player to wield it. Many players who can wield a yew shortbow use it because they fire faster than the yew longbow.

Members can make a yew shortbow through the Fletching skill at level 65. First, a player must cut an unstrung yew shortbow (u) from yew logs, granting 67.5 Fletching experience. Then, the player must string the unstrung yew shortbow with a bow string, granting 67.5 experience.
