Notable features | Rewards trader of Dungeoneering. |
Marmaros Thokson, the rewards trader is a Fremennik involved with the Dungeoneering skill and the younger brother of the self-proclaimed master of Dungeoneering, Thok. He is located south-west of the Fremennik banker and Dungeoneering tutor outside the Daemonheim castle. In the Postbag from the Hedge 44 released on 7 October 2010, it is stated that Marmaros is the rewards trader.
His knowledge of Daemonheim is shown throughout a series of letters written to Thok and his younger sister, Bryll. The letters were a method to keep his sanity while traversing the endless and nightmarish floors of Daemonheim, as well as hopefully record the progress their journey had accomplished for future study. Marmaros also named one of the types of ore he discovered in Daemonheim after himself and a type of clothing texture after his sister.
Marmaros continually commented on Thok's determination and ability to travel throughout the danger-filled dungeons in a way that suggested he himself did not share the same zeal. In the last of his letters, Thok writes that Marmaros got stomped by a 'big stomp creature'. This refers to the dungeoneering boss Stomp; This has been proven in one of the Fremennik sagas, where the player plays Marmaros while he gets stomped. Thok likely wrote his letter this way due to his limited vocabulary, as demonstrated when talking to him, or in his response to a player's letter in Postbag from the Heim.
If the player asks him about his name he will eventually say: "They called me Ma...", but is then interrupted by the player who guesses some names; he then realises he does not recall his own name.
During the 2010 Christmas event, Marmaros can be found at the Heimland Games, wearing a jester hat. The player could not claim rewards, only attempt to explain to him what Christmas is.
Marmaros sells different rewards. He only accepts Dungeoneering tokens.
In the Postbag from the Heim letters, it was confirmed that Marmaros was attacked by the Hope Devourer. However this could have been a second attack, as after he had been attacked in Part 6, part 8 describes them as if they were in an Occult floor, while Hope Devourer is on the Warped floors.

Trivia
- It is shown that Marmaros has a combat level of 77 if you right click on him in the final cutscene (where Thok and he meets back up with in the occult floors) in the Thok It To 'Em Fremennik saga. In Thok Your Block Off, he has gained 25 combat levels and is level 102.
- The rewards trader appears to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder; he finds it difficult to recall his name, and also appears easily frightened. This is further corroborated by the sixth M. and Thok letter. The seventh letter shows he survived with his memory, however, while events may have happened after the eighth. These events may have given him his memory loss. The letter from the postbag suggests it was caused by the Hope devourer.
- When Dungeoneering was first released, the trader's Dungeoneering rewards used to cost significantly more tokens than they currently cost.
- When using any item on him he will respond with "No good! Take it away."
- The Rewards Trader's name can be found in a response to a player's curiosity in Postbag 44 - Postbag from the Heim.
- Adding "Sevga" to your notes reveals that "Marmaros had a close encounter with a prayer-eating behemoth.", possibly referring to the Hope devourer.
- Marmaros is Ancient Greek for 'shining stone', the word 'marble' is also derived from this.
- Marmaros is wearing full Katagon, along with his chainmail and a primal longsword.
- He appears to be hiding behind a Protector's ward, which can be obtained only within a dungeon by a spiritual warrior drop.
- Marmaros ore is named after him.
