The Corrupt dragon spear was released on 15 October 2008, along with the PvP worlds. It is the strongest and was the only spear available to non-members at its release, (more spears came out with the Dungeoneering skill) but it crumbles to dust after 30 minutes of wielding. It requires 60 Attack to wield. This spear is as fast as a longsword.

Players can receive this item either by trading with another player, or by receiving it as a very rare drop from killing Revenants or the Chaos Elemental.

In Wilderness, when a player is killed with the degraded version of this weapon, 38k coins are dropped instead of the spear, as you cannot trade the degraded version.

It is probably more expensive than the normal version because of the amount of non-members that want it while being hard to find.

This spear is slower but noticeably stronger than the Rune scimitar. It is frequently used by high-levelled players, due to its minor defence bonuses, and can be used to deal high amounts of damage. It can deal a maximum damage of 294 life points in Free-to-play.

• Unlike its counterpart, the corrupt dragon spear has a black handle instead of a silver handle.
• It is one of the only spears available to F2P, along with the spears in the Dungeoneering skill.
• This weapon has NO special attack.
• The corrupt dragon spear was featured in the RuneScape Quiz #5. The question about the spear was: "What is the Strength bonus bestowed by the Corrupt Dragon Spear?". Majority of people (45%) answered 55, while the correct strength bonus is 60 (which 34% of people answered).
