Dragonbane bolts are bolts that do additional damage to dragons. They require 50 Ranged to wield. While they are equal to Mithril bolts in terms of ranged strength, they are capable of dealing much more damage to dragons - upwards of 600+ damage whilst using an extreme ranging/overload potion, eagle eye/rigour prayer and wearing Void Knight equipment with a Void ranger helm or a focus sight/full slayer helm on a slayer task. To put that into perspective, with only 85 ranged and no boosts, it is possible to hit 400. Furthermore, they appear to have a bolstering effect on not only damage against dragons but also on accuracy.

Dragonbane bolts are created by mining Bane Ore (77 Mining), then casting the Tune Bane Ore Spell (87 Magic) with a dragon item. The ore is then smelted into dragonbane bars (77 Smithing), which are then made into dragonbane bolts (unf) on the Kethsian anvil (82 Smithing). Each bar makes 50 unfinished bolts. Feathers need to be added to the unfinished bolts, requiring level 80 Fletching and giving 70 experience per set of 10 feathered. The Magic, Smithing, and Fletching requirements can be boosted. Therefore, using Spicy Stews and an Extreme Magic Potion , the lowest levels possible to obtain these bolts are 76 Mining (Required to complete the quest), 80 Magic, 76 Smithing, and 74 Fletching.

Dragonbane bolts are not attainable until completion of the Ritual of the Mahjarrat grandmaster quest and are untradeable. They can be poisoned.

Dragonbane bolts do NOT work on skeletal wyverns.

Even though the extra damage is only dealt to dragons, these bolts are good for general purpose use against any monster with a weakness to ranged.

Trivia

• A few weeks after release, the patch notes stated "dragonbane bolts now work correctly against frost dragons".
• Currently, the bolts do no additional damage to the dragons in the dungeon of a player owned house. It is unknown whether this is a bug.
