A night spider is a poisonous monster found in Daemonheim on floors 1-60 (Frozen, Abandoned I, Furnished, Abandoned II, Occult, and Warped floors) that requires a Slayer level of 41 or above to harm. As with most spiders, these creatures are weak to crushing attacks. It is possible to find up to four of these spiders in one room, but this is very rare. They are usually found in "bonus" rooms of a dungeon (rooms not required to complete a floor). The poison from this monster is relatively low, with a max of 22, so antipoison is not recommended for them, but instead for the high-levelled dungeon spiders. Night Spiders can only be attacked by people who have the correct slayer level to kill it.

This spider is the only monster that drops the shadow silk hood, which is only able to pick up for the person who dealt the most damage. However, after 30 seconds, other players are free to pick it up. The shadow silk hood is a rare hood that renders the wearer invisible to Forgotten warriors, Forgotten rangers, Zombies, Hill giants, and Skeletons (not including skeleton mages). However, Forgotten mages, Necromancers, reborn mages, mercenary leaders, and Seekers can cast spells to temporarily disable its effect, making the player visible to all monsters. If a spider drops the hood, it is highly recommended to bind this item, as it is very rare and makes rushes a lot safer.

This spider is more often found in Large Dungeons rather than in small or medium dungeons, but this is only because there are more rooms for the spider to spawn in. Furthermore, the chance of it appearing is also influenced by the Slayer level(s) of the party member(s). Therefore, players or teams with higher Slayer levels are more likely to encounter the spider. The spiders are more likely to appear on Abandoned II (30-35) floors, so hood seekers are advised to use these floors when they attempt to get one, but at your own risk, as there are usually all three types of combat in its room.

As of 19 April 2012, Slayer monster frequency in Dungeons has been increased by nearly double, making Night Spiders a far more common occurrence on attempted floors than they previously were.
