The Gravite rapier is a melee weapon released with the Dungeoneering update, on 12 April 2010. It is currently the third strongest free-to-play stab weapon, behind the Corrupt dragon longsword and the Corrupt dragon spear. It requires 45 Attack and Dungeoneering level.
This item cannot be made by the Smithing skill. It can only be bought as a Dungeoneering reward, costing 40,000 tokens. Realistically, one would need to achieve at least level 64 Dungeoneering before one can accumulate enough tokens to purchase the rapier.
The Gravite rapier is generally used like a shortsword, using both stab and slash to advantage as well as quick attacking. However the combat bonuses are very similar to those of a rune scimitar, except a small bonus is added to its strength and attack bonus along with having stab as its main attack style.

Degrading
The Gravite rapier is special compared to its other gravite counterparts. While it is true for the ever popular free-to-play weapon, the Gravite 2h sword, to degrade after 10 hours of combat, it isn't exactly true for the rapier. Many free-to-play players buy the rapier as a replacement to the rune scimitar for training. In a multicombat situation, the rapier may degrade faster, as dungeoneering weapons degrade for every hit dealt and received (by receiving more hits, the weapon degrades faster) [source needed]. However, in a 1v1 situation, which the rapier is commonly used for, the rapier is able to last slightly over 15 hours of continual combat, degrading 1% every ~10 minutes. Therefore, the cost for the maintenance of the rapier is greatly reduced, it may well be an excellent replacement for the rune scimitar for those willing to save up for it. It is currently unknown whether this is an intentional feature of the Gravite rapier, or a glitch.
Max hit
In F2P, the maximum hit of this weapon is 281 with a Strength Potion, Ultimate Strength, 99 Strength and a weapon strength bonus of +64 (Gravite Rapier, Amulet of strength, Rune Berserker Shield (charged) and Rune gauntlets), while fighting in an aggressive stance.
