Mithril seeds detailed

Mithril seeds are items that can be planted, in order to produce flowers of a random colour. When planted, they will appear underneath your feet, and then you will move away a square. Immediately after this action, players are given the choice of picking up the flowers, or leaving them. It is advised that the player take the flowers, due to their monetary value.

You can obtain mithril seeds at the Shop of Useful Items within the Legends' Guild for 300 coins each. There are 500 seeds for sale at this store (entire stock costs 150,000gp). In order to gain access to the Legends' Guild you must have completed the Legends' Quest. Forty mithril seeds can also be obtained as a reward from the Waterfall Quest.

In the past red flowers were the third most expensive flower because they were the only flowers that could be used to make the praying mantis familiar. As of March 3 2010, all types of flowers (excluding black and white) can be used as a tertiary ingredient for the praying mantis familiar, so picking all flowers is a good idea for players wishing to train Summoning.

As Free Trade was brought back, the "Flower Game" emerged. A player would bet coins on what color of flower would come up when planted. The host takes the cash for the bet and multiplies the amount if the player is right. Although some people do play this game and don't scam, you are more likely to lose than you are to win. Players should know that Jagex discourages gambling and trust trading of all kinds.

They are not made of mithril, despite their name; the examine info shows that the case is made of mithril, however.

• An interesting thing to note: back in RuneScape Classic, when one planted a mithril seed, the product would be a tree. Also, unlike mithril seeds currently, one would not back up a space after planting. Thus, if one planted a mithril seed in RuneScape Classic, they would be "inside" or occupying the same space as a temporary tree. These seeds were also allowed to be planted in the Wilderness.
• They were used to disrupt other players' training, such as laying a box trap. As of now, players are unable to plant the seeds in hunting areas.
• These were also commonly used to detect Firemaking bots. When placed directly under a player before they could perform the action, the bot wouldn't be able to continue or move away and would wait until the flower was gone.
• These seeds are in no way related to the Farming skill, as they existed long before its release.
• Interestingly, mithril seeds have jumped way up in price since the release of free trade and the wilderness. This is because of players playing the Flower Game; therefore making them in high demand.
• On June 6, many players plant mithril seeds in Falador to remember the infamous bug abuse, named the Falador Massacre.
• Despite their name, Mithril seeds cannot be made using mithril bars via the smithing skill nor are the colour that mithril items usually are. However, they are put in a mithril case.
