Limpwurt roots are used to make Strength potion at level 12 Herblore (combined with a Tarromin) and Super strength potion at level 55 Herblore (combined with a Kwuarm). As an alternative to buying them, limpwurt roots are drops from Chaos Druid Warriors, cave crawlers, cockatrice, cyclopes, grotworms, hobgoblins, tribesmen, cockroach drones, turoths, and hill giants.

With level 26 Farming, players can grow their own roots in a farming patch using Limpwurt seeds.

At level 20 Dungeoneering players (both F2P and P2P) may enter the Edgeville resource dungeon located in the east of the Hill Giant area where four limpwurt roots spawn making a reasonable amount of money from picking them up and selling them quickly on the Grand Exchange nearby. The banks in the Grand Exchange and in Edgeville are also nearby to deposit these picked up limpwurt roots.

The Apothecary in western Varrock will make a 4-dose Strength potion if you bring him Red spiders' eggs, a limpwurt root, and 5 coins. This is the only way to make a potion on free worlds.

According to the official bestiary (now removed), Hobgoblins often chew limpwurt roots, which may be a reference to the common drop of these roots for Hobgoblins. In addition, the minitrice pet use them as food, which may be related to limpwurt roots being a common drop of cockatrices. (A cockatrice head is required to acquire a minitrice as a pet.)

Trivia

  • Limpwurt may be named after Limpwort, an alternative name for Veronica beccabunga.
  • This item looks a lot like Guthix symbol.
  • The Limpwurt root's price decreased to approximately 400 coins following the release of the resource dungeons through the time leading up to the Bot Nuke Day. The price had peaked in March 2010 at about 3800 coins, and was about 3000 coins shortly before an update on 19 July 2010. Following bot nuke day, the price has slowly recovered back to around 1250 coins.
  • Limpwurt Roots are one of the most popular money-making items to collect, mostly by F2P players, by picking up the spawns and selling them at the Grand Exchange.
