The Black hatchet is a hatchet that is slightly stronger than the Steel hatchet. It can be used in combat or in Woodcutting to cut trees. It can be found on Level 1 Treasure trails, obtained as a drop from abyssal demons, black demons, dark beasts, Skeleton Fremenniks, vampyres, Black Dragons and skeletal wyverns, or bought from other players.

It is also the only free-to-play hatchet that cannot be made using the Smithing skill and can only be obtained in free-to-play servers by trading with other players or through the Grand Exchange.

Trivia

• Before the update that removed hatchet/pickaxe heads from flying off, this was the only hatchet that could not be broken in this manner.
