A detailed view of an Amulet of ranging

The Amulet of ranging is an amulet dropped by aquanites. It boosts the player's Ranged attack and Magic defence bonuses. It is dropped by aquanites, which are found in the last section of the Fremennik Slayer Dungeon, just past the kurasks, and can only be attacked with a Slayer level of 78. Aquanites are assigned as a task by Sumona, and Duradel/Lapalok. To receive aquanites as a task from Kuradal you must spend 50 slayer reward points to unlock them. Note that aquanites are the only monster in RuneScape that drop this item.

The amulet of glory and amulet of fury offer only +10 range attack bonus, which is relatively close to the amulet of ranging. But the amulet of ranging is better for training while you're not taking much damage or fighting a monster/boss that only uses mage (assuming you're using range).

Trivia

• Its starting price of 1.7 million coins in the Grand Exchange was set by Jagex. The price climbed until it reached 3.1 million coins before it began to drop.
• The examine text is a reference to a necklace made using a shark's tooth, which is a necklace that is commonly known as being worn by surfers.
• Upon its release, many high-level slayers flocked to aquanites in search of the amulet. In some worlds, there were up to 20 people slaying them at a time. Many players even went to PvP worlds because it was so hard to find a good spot.
