The Potion is an item given to a player by asking the Apothecary in Varrock for a free sample, with the Apothecary choosing to give it to players roughly half the time and refusing other times. Before Varrock was updated, the potion was available by way of a respawn in the apothecary's building. It has only a few functions in RuneScape; it is a possible item requirement for the Forgettable Tale of a Drunken Dwarf quest, and its other "use" is to be used on the civilians of Sophanem who are covered in spots, which results in various amusing conversations.
This item is usually kept by collectors who want to collect all sorts of various potions/brews in RuneScape, and as such, the Grand Exchange market price for this product is Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". coins. However, it rarely buys for less than 900 coins.
Imps also drop this item from time to time.

Trivia
- At one point this item had well over a 4,000% price rise; most likely due to price manipulation.
- This potion looks very similar to Guthix balance. What is interesting is that on the Grand Exchange, this potion is very similar in price to the Guthix balance as well.
- Although a free-to-play item, using anything on the potion would result in "You must be on a members' world to do that." However, if you use the potion on an item, it says "Nothing interesting happens."
- If one uses it on a slave in Sophanem, they get a little bonus chat. If one uses it on the [head] Priest in Sophanem they get a second bonus chat. Using it on the other human NPCs gets the "Nothing interesting happens." message. If you use it on one of the plague cows, they will say "Moo". Using it on the plague frogs will not result in anything happening.
