Steel nails, along with other nails, are primarily used in the Construction skill to make furniture and can also be used in the Fletching skill to make brutal arrows. They are made with steel bars using the Smithing skill. These nails are the only nails that non-members can create. Steel nails are tradeable, can be bought at the sawmill operator and are quite cheap, however they break occasionally. They can also be obtained during the quest In Aid of the Myreque, as a possible loot from a Young Impling (in quantities of 5) and a rare product generated by Ava's accumulator.
To make steel nails the player must have at least level 34 Smithing, a steel bar and a hammer in their inventory. They will receive 15 steel nails and 37.5 Smithing experience.

Trivia
- Unlike most nails, steel nails make a metalic sound when dropped, opposed to a "thump."
