These messages provide players with information about any abilities they have unlocked when raising their skill levels. The messages will appear whenever players increase a Combat level, or when players have met the requirements to start a new quest. Each of these important milestones will be highlighted with improved sounds and graphics, which get more impressive as players achieve harder-to-reach goals.
Due to an update by Jagex, players would not miss their level-up message if they are in the midst of combat. Once they advance a level in a skill, that skill's icon will begin flashing in the statistics menu of the Game Interface. They can view it by clicking on the flashing icon (as long as they stay logged in). In all other cases, clicking on the skill icon will open the skill guide as normal.
Important milestones are available in the menu, and they can be checked via a tab called "Milestone". However, not all level-up messages are included in this menu. Below is the list of all milestones, and other level-up messages that players may receive.
Well done! You have reached the total level n milestone! (n being the total level File:Highest F2P Total Notification.pngHighest total level on free worlds message.achieved.)
Well done! You've achieved the highest total level possible on free worlds! (when reaching total level 1,614)
Note: Total level milestones are measured in increments of 100 levels, except the first, which is 50. The total levels of 1,614 and 2,496 are also milestones, being the highest possible level to free players and members respectively and receive special fireworks in addition to the regular ones for levelling up.
All skills have at least one milestone, called "Skill mastery" at level 99 and "True Skill mastery" at 120 Dungeoneering.
There was a small glitch after the 25 February 2009 updates where the Farming "Milestones" section was missing for a few days.
There are other level-up messages that are not included as milestones in the statistics menu.
With the update of the menagerie room in the construction skill, the milestone section in the Construction skill guide disappeared. This has recently been fixed.
It is possible to level up in up to 8 skills at once (Attack, Strength, Defence, Constitution, Slayer, Prayer (with bonecrusher), Herblore (with herbicide), and Summoning (if you time the scroll right) as well as a Combat Level by using a controlled attack style and gaining shared experience with a weapon such as a spear, when you need an equal or near equal amount of experience in those four skills. This situation can easily be achieved by killing a low life point non-player character in a multicombat area while at the same time casting a scroll, such as at the Soul Wars pyrefiends, with different attack styles until you have a very similar amount of experience in each skill. It is even possible to gain levels in additional skills from reward experience of quests completed upon the death of a foe. Other skills in which you can level at the same time include but are not limited to, magic defence and constitution, ranged defence and constitution, as well as magic and smithing via the superheat spell. It is also possible, but requires good timing, to level up 8 Skills simutaneously. A Dwarf Multicannon can also train range and Magic can be trained through a Familiar with an attack that gives Magic XP, both of which can be used in combination with bonecrusher obtained from Dungeoneering for Prayer XP. All these combat skills can be levelled with slayer as well.
On the 12th of April 2010, when the Dungeoneering skill was released, there was a glitch with the Magic skill. When you opened the skills tab and selected "Magic" there was no Milestones selection. This glitch was not fixed until the 25th of May 2010.
It is possible to get 10 level-ups at once (attack, strength, defence, constitution, slayer, prayer (with bonecrusher), ranged, magic, summoning and herblore[with herbicide]) You can have a controlled attack style with a dwarf cannon and a summoning familiar. You can use a summoning scroll for your familiar that gives you magic xp, while still attacking with dwarf cannon, hitting with controlled attack style, and then whatever you were killing for a slayer task drops herbs and bones e.g. chaos druids.
The Fremmenik Trials quest reward gives experience in 10 different skills to also allow 10 level-ups at once.
There was a glitch where the milestone tab for the smithing skill was missing on the date of the release of the Artisans Workshop. This was fixed in the next update.
