A Maple longbow (sighted) requires 45 Ranged to wield, and is obtained by attaching a Longbow sight to a regular Maple longbow. The Right click option, Dismantle, will dismantle the sighted bow into the Maple Longbow and Longbow Sight. By massively increasing the longbow's Ranged attack bonus by +81 (from +29 to +110), the Maple Longbow (sighted) makes this the most accurate ranged weapon in the free world. The attack bonus is even higher than many pay-to-play weapons, like the Abyssal whip and the Saradomin sword. It also fires more quickly than an ordinary longbow, as fast as a composite bow.
The Longbow sight, a reward from the Dungeoneering skill, can be bought from the Rewards trader for 10,000 dungeoneering tokens. According to the 10:1 experience to tokens received ratio, one needs 100,000 Dungeoneering experience to obtain sufficient tokens (approximately level 50 Dungeoneering, assuming no tokens spent).
This bow does not increase ranged damage, only accuracy. For training purposes, a Maple shortbow is generally superior because it fires faster and has the potential to deal damage and earn experience at a faster rate. In certain situations, the longer range and increased accuracy can come in handy when fighting against an armoured opponent where the shortbow might miss too often.
The bow can give a ranger an advantage over heavily armoured opponents. An impressive ranged attack bonus of around +100 can be retained even while wearing the bow with full rune, giving the ranger high melee protection while still retaining a large ranged accuracy bonus. This rune tank build's ranged accuracy surpasses the accuracy attainable with a shortbow and full green dragonhide. Such a build may remove the need for safespots, or come in use in PvP situations against shortbow users or meleers.
