The Third-age kiteshield is a members-only piece of armour that is part of the Third Age warrior set. Players need at least 65 Defence to wield it. To obtain one, the player can either complete a Level 3 Treasure trail or trade with another player. It is among the most expensive rewards from a treasure trail.
This shield is the fifth strongest shield in the game, beaten by the fully charged Dragonfire shield, the Elysian spirit shield, the Divine spirit shield, and the Chaotic kiteshield. It is also beaten in range defence bonus by the Crystal shield, the Granite shield, and the Toktz-ket-xil.
Interestingly enough, the statistics on the 3rd Age Kiteshield resemble square shield rather than kiteshield. It has an equal stab and ranged defence bonus, and its crush defence is lower than stab defence.

Trivia
- Although the third-age kiteshield resembles a teardrop shield, it is still called a kite shield.
- Due to the recent armour revamping the new steel kite shield closely resembles the third-age kite shield. though this might change should third age armour also get a major revamp.
- The third-age kiteshield may be based off shields worn by men in King Harold's army during the Battle of Hastings, as depicted by the Bayeux Tapestry.
