Unfinished broad bolts are obtained from Slayer Masters, who will sell up to 3000 of them to a player per day. They can be made into broad-tipped bolts using the Fletching skill, giving 30 experience points for 10 unfinished bolts made, provided the skill has been learnt as a Slayer reward. To finish the bolts, simply add feathers to them. The finished bolts are the crossbow equivalent of broad arrow heads and are used by players killing turoth and kurasks, as they are immune to any other ammunition.

Unfinished broad bolts can be obtained by buying them from a Slayer Master with coins. The stock for unfinished broad bolts are linked between all Slayer Masters except Turael (or Spria if the quest While Guthix Sleeps has been completed). Therefore is it not possible to buy more than 6000 from Slayer Masters at once.

Broad bolts are accessed at level 55 Slayer and also require 50 Ranged to wield and use. However, they can only be fired from a rune or chaotic crossbow, which requires level 61+ Ranged. They are commonly used for training the Ranged skill, due to their low price. They are often referred to as replacement adamant bolts (which cost more) since both have +100 ranged strength.

Buying the full stock of 6000 from a Slayer Master will cost 300,000 coins.

Trivia

  • Attempting to add feathers to make Broad-tipped bolts without learning how to make them gets the phrase "You need to learn how to make these missiles as a Slayer reward."
