The TokTz-Ket-Dill (roughly translated as Obsidian Guard Armadillo) is a creature encountered in the TokTz-Ket-Dill quest, and is the boss monster. This creature's shell must be broken using a rune pickaxe or dragon pickaxe's accurate attack; after its armour is sufficiently damaged it can be damaged by melee weapons that use the Crush style, such as a mace, a spear, or even the pickaxe used to destroy the armour. This was unique for a monster until the release of Bulwark beast.

Multiple TokTz-Ket-Dill are also encountered in The Elder Kiln quest.

The TokTz-Ket-Dill is fight-able as a class F boss monster in the Dominion Tower minigame if the player has completed TokTz-Ket-Dill.

Combat strategy

  • TokTz-Ket-Dill has very thick armour that can only be broken with a rune or dragon pickaxe. Gilded versions of these pickaxes will work too.
  • Players must keep hitting with a rune or dragon pickaxe until its armour breaks. (Note: Players will hit 0 while this is happening, but they will get a message saying its armour is breaking.)
  • When TokTz-Ket-Dill's armour shell is broken, players can use any melee weapon with crush attack style. (Note: Players cannot damage TokTz-Ket-Dill if they use the wrong style and or weapon.)
  • The creature uses ranged and melee attacks, and can hit over 200 with ranged. Occasionally, while its shell is still intact, it may slam its tail into the ground, causing 150-250 or more points of unavoidable typeless damage.
  • You must break its shell and kill it in one trip - you cannot leave after breaking its shell. If you do, its shell will be intact when you return.
  • Do not use prayer when the shell is still intact. If you do, it will slam the ground every time it attacks, and constantly hit 150s. Once you have broken its shell, it is suggested you turn on Protect from Missiles.
  • This monster is not affected by damage from deflect prayers or vengeance, and it cannot be poisoned.

Tips

  • A dragon battleaxe or a barrelchest anchor both work very well.
  • A Summoning familiar will be able to damage the TokTz-Ket-Dill even when its armour is still intact.
  • A Summoning familiar such as a Steel Minotaur is helpful with diverting attacks and dealing out extra damage.
  • Players can still use a rune or dragon pickaxe to kill it without switching to a different weapon.
  • A Strength and Defence level above 70 would be a great advantage in order to kill it quicker.
  • Using prayer to boost your attack and strength will also help once the shell is off.

Messages

  • "Your rune/dragon pickaxe slowly cracks its way through the TokTz-Ket-Dill's armour."
  • "The TokTz-Ket-Dill slams its tail against the ground."
  • "Your pickaxe finally breaks the TokTz-Ket-Dill's thick armour!"
  • "Your Holy aura appears to enrage the TokTz-Ket-Dill! (When using protection prayers)"

Trivia

  • The fight between the player and TokTz-Ket-Dill is similar to the boss battles of The Helmaroc King and Helmasaur King from the Legend of Zelda series, you could not harm them until you destroyed their mask/armour and then you could attack with the Skull Hammer/bombs or sword respectively.
  • The Bulwark beast, a boss monster encountered during Dungeoneering, has plate armour which must be destroyed with a pickaxe beforehand, similar to this monster.
  • Its appearance is similar to that of an armadillo.
  • TokTz-Ket-Dill may also drop a long bone.
  • There was a glitch where the TokTz-Ket-Dill's armour could not be broken by gilded rune or gilded dragon pickaxes from the Lava-flow mine. A message would appear and say that it's too weak for destroying the thick armour. This was fixed on 17 July 2012.
  • The Dominion tower version of the TokTz-Ket-Dill has not been updated, and it stretches while performing it's typeless attack.
