Rushing (PvP tactic)

Rushing is a tactic that was used in Clan Wars, PvP and other dangerous activities. Once rushers, players that utilise this tactic, enter a game of Clan Wars, PvP, or other dangerous player-killing activities, they wait on the safe side of the barrier until they find a suitable target. Then, when their target is just finishing a battle and is hurt, they sprint from the barrier up to the target and use their weapon to drastically reduce their health or kill them.

The most common rushing weapons are the dragon dagger (only if the rusher has high Attack and Strength levels and overloads), poisoned or not poisoned, Dragon claws, Armadyl godsword, granite maul or Vesta's longsword, for melee.

Rushing can be done with Ranged as well, being a form of inflicting high hits, using weapons like the hand cannon or the dark bow. The rushers then use the special attack only, and after the special is over, they run back to the safe barrier. Some players think this tactic is underhanded, but so many players utilise it that it has become almost commonplace in the arenas of Clan Wars. Most of the time, rushers will use a damaging magic spell to try lowering the target's life points, then use 1 or 2 specials, if possible.

Sometimes, they can use Vengeance, Plank Make or some emotes, to make their character seem to run faster. In the Wilderness, they mostly target players with low Defence, high priced armour (Bandos, Dharok's, Verac's etc.) or players training skills (using brawling gloves, alching, etc.) Rushing usually works only when you have either high Strength or Attack. Most players consider it better to attack and then run away, as it lowers the opponent's health and makes them eat.

Rushing is disliked by player killers and is considered no-honour pking.

An example of rushing is using the dragon claws special attack while using the Turmoil prayer and Super strength to help hit higher and Super attack to increase the chance of hitting on the victim and not giving them a chance to even attack back.

If attempting rushing, please note that overloads and Extreme potions cannot be used in the wild.

Inventory

Generally, rushers use potions such as super strength, super attack, and super defence (or better) to boost their stats well above normal. For food, rocktail and shark are recommended for their high healing, though lower level players could also use more affordable lobster or monkfish.

If planning to combo special attacks, players may bring secondary weapons, such as Korasi's sword or the dragon claws.

Prayer

If using prayer, Turmoil helps the most, giving a large boost to damage. Piety is also a suitable choice for players without the 95 prayer requirement for Turmoil. Low level players can use the best strength and attack boosting prayer available to them.
