The Mindspike (fire) is a changeable version of the standard Staff of fire, with higher melee and magic bonuses as well as a slight prayer bonus. Mindspikes (air) can be obtained as a drop from killing the Troll General during the Troll Warzone tutorial, or after as a drop from killing Troll shamans, which are in the east portion of the Troll cave north of Burthorpe. You can change the element of the mindspike by right-clicking on the item and selecting "Change element", making it a mindspike (water), mindspike (earth) or mindspike (air). You could change the element back and forth with no tangible limitations.
All forms of mindspike have the same special attack, which takes up 75% of the special attack bar and is a rune-free spell of the corresponding element which has a 100% chance of inflicting 50 damage, and is not affected by Magic Damage bonuses. In the case of the Mindspike (fire), this is a fire spell. This attack could only be used in melee range.
