Kamil, the Knight of Ice is one of the guardians of the Diamonds of Azzanadra. He must be killed to complete the Desert Treasure quest. He uses ice magic spells that will freeze the player and hit double 50s, and sometimes a much stronger melee attack that can hit up to 240. In addition, the extreme cold when you're fighting him will reduce your stats. He is weak against fire spells; this, coupled with the weakness of his spells, means that using fire magic is advisable against him. Wearing Void knight equipment will protect from his attacks effectively, if you have it.

Kamil makes a reappearance in the Recipe for Disaster final battle as Karamel. Interestingly, he seems to change gender when he reappears, as Karamel is female.

Kamil is fight-able along with Fareed, Damis and Dessous as a class B boss monster in the Dominion Tower minigame if the player has completed Desert Treasure. See Dominion Tower/Desert bosses strategy for a guide on how to defeat the combined four bosses.

Getting to Kamil

Kamil is reached east of the Ice Path, north of Trollheim.

To get there, teleport to Trollheim, which requires 61 Magic, and completion of Eadgar's Ruse quest required, and walk to the Ice Gate. If you have not done so already, talk to the troll child outside the gate and give him something sweet, like a cake, so that he will let you through (you only need to do this once). Squeeze between the gate, then kill five ice trolls (level 120-124) to make the icicles blocking the cave in the south-east break away. Go through the cave and head up the Ice Path, past the ice wolves (level 132) and you'll enter Kamil's Arena, where the battle is fought. For a more detailed guide, see the Desert Treasure guide.

How to Defeat Kamil

Kamil is a powerful opponent. He is considered one of the most annoying and hardest bosses to fight in the quest Desert Treasure, due to the constant draining of stats by snow, eating food and drinking restore potions frequently, and having to stop fighting due to his freeze magic attack. He can hit up to 240 with melee, and double 50's with magic. It's a good idea to wear Ahrim's Robes, Lunar Robes, Splitbark Armour , or Mystic Robes with Black d'hide chaps to fight Kamil. For the best results, take high-healing food, monkfish or better.

Fire spells are clearly the best way to go, and before the update that allows casting of spells despite magic level reductions, this was often Fire Bolt with Chaos Gauntlets , due to the stat reducing effects of the weather. However, due to this update, the strongest fire spell a person can use is the best option, as they will be able to cast it even if their magic level is reduced below that required to cast.

Once you come up against Kamil, turn on Protect from Magic or Protect from Melee and begin maging Kamil up close. He will constantly teleport next to you, freeze you, and then melee you, so trying to run around is wasting time, as you won't get away. This fight isn't particularly hard if you do it right. When he freezes you, you can't attack him, so just hang in there and sip some super restore potions or eat while you wait. Towards the end of the battle, he will stop freezing you as frequently, which is the best time to start to autocast spells to make it go quicker. As super restore potions also give prayer points back, this means that apart from the fact you hit slightly lower you will drink just as many potions as if this was outside the icy area, which gets rid of his advantage. Using this, he becomes just another monster. A one click teleport such as a Teleport tablet or ectophial is heavily recommended. It has been repeatedly proven that Kamil can be killed by a cannon but this is not recommended unless you are a defence pure or high leveled (because Kamil will never stop attacking you). However, using a cannon in combination with magic makes this fight much easier, and is as such recommended. Kamil is also immune to poison.

There is a partial safe spot which is very effective, however Kamil will use magic attacks very infrequently. A moderately effective method for players under the combat level of 80 seeking to kill Kamil is to equip full Splitbark Armour and use protect from melee while casting fire strikes/blasts.
