Examine A razor-sharp rapier. (Tier 11)

The Primal rapier is a weapon used in the Dungeoneering skill and as such cannot be taken out of Daemonheim. It requires 99 Attack to wield. This item cannot be made using the Smithing skill, and can only be obtained as a drop from Har'Lakk the Riftsplitter.

The stab bonus of a primal rapier is 2 lower than a Zamorakian spear and the slash bonus is same as a dragon scimitar but the strength bonus surpasses a chaotic rapier by 8. It should be noted that the difference between a primal rapier and a promethium rapier is unusually small, especially noticeable for the strength bonus. A primal rapier only beats the promethium rapier by 2 in strength bonus, while the latter beats a Gorgonite rapier by 11, which in turn beats a Katagon rapier by 17, and so on.

Trivia

  • While rapiers made of other metals have partial ricassos, the Primal rapier does not and instead sports a full knuckle guard.
  • The Chaotic rapier, surprisingly, is more accurate than the Primal rapier, but has a lower strength bonus.
  • The Primal rapier is a good choice of bind if one wants a 1-handed weapon, due to its ability to dispose of low defence monsters quickly while still having the option for an off-hand item. However, as monsters in Daemonheim usually have high defence, the Primal battleaxe is generally preferred as a 1-handed bind.
  • While this rapier by itself is rather inaccurate, when paired with accuracy-increasing binds, such as a Golden precision bracelet and Blood necklace, as well as boosts from Turmoil or Overload, its accuracy changes much more than a more accurate weapon, such as a Primal 2h sword, would with the same boosts, making this weapon plausible as a melee bind.
  • When trying to equip a Primal Rapier without the required 99 Attack level, the message "You need Attack 99 or higher to wield that item" appears. This is overly wordy, as having an Attack level higher than 99 is impossible without boosting, but the boost will not affect the ability to wield the Rapier.
