The Broken sword can be found while pickpocketing H.A.M. members at their hideout west of Lumbridge. It can be fixed on a whetstone in a player's house. If fixed, it will yield a shortsword from bronze to rune. It is possible to fail and break it in the process of repairing it.
The type of sword produced from the whetstone depends on your Crafting level:
NOTE: This only raises the percent of you getting the sword you want. If you are level 1 Crafting, you still can obtain a rune shortsword but your chances are slim to none.
35 construction is required to build a whetstone. However, you can use one built by a friend, in their POH.
