Water esslings are a type of Essling found on all floors of the Runespan. They can be siphoned for water runes, requiring one rune essence and giving one water rune and 12.6 Runecrafting experience for a successful siphon; an unsuccessful siphon will give no runes, consume no essence, and give 0-2 experience. They require level 5 Runecrafting to siphon. You can absorb 5 water runes before the water essling dies, leaving 50 rune essence. However, if the player stopped siphoning before the Essling was drained, they will not receive any essence. They respawn every 5 seconds.

Chipping

Water esslings can also be "chipped" for rune essence. By using 10 air runes on the essling, you will receive 10-20 rune essence. However, the same essling cannot be chipped twice in a row; you can't chip the same creature until you have chipped three other Runespan creatures of any type.

Water esslings can be found on platforms 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 19, 23, 25, 27, 30, 33, 35, 38, 39, 42, 43, 47, and 52 of the lower floor.

Middle level

Water esslings can be found on platforms 1, 3, 14, and 33 of the middle floor.

Upper level

Water esslings can be found on platforms 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 26, 28, and 29 of the upper floor.

Trivia

• Essling is a portmanteau of essence and "ling" meaning either child of, or smaller creature.
• Water Esslings have the water rune symbol on the top of their heads.
