Cosmic esshounds are a type of Esshound found on the middle and upper floors of the Runespan. They can be siphoned for cosmic runes, requiring one rune essence and giving one cosmic rune and 26.5 Runecrafting experience for a successful siphon; an unsuccessful siphon will give no runes, consume no essence, and give 0-2 experience. They require level 27 Runecrafting to siphon. You can absorb 5 cosmic runes before the esshound dies, leaving 50 rune essence. However, if the player stopped siphoning before the esshound was drained, they will not receive any essence. They respawn every 5 seconds.

Chipping

Cosmic esshounds can also be "chipped" for rune essence. By using 10 earth runes on the esshound, you will receive 10-20 rune essence. However, the same cosmic esshound cannot be chipped twice in a row; you can't chip the same creature until you have chipped three other Runespan creatures of any type.

Cosmic esshounds cannot be found on the lower floor.

Middle level

Cosmic esshounds can be found on platforms 3, 5, 7, 33, 35, 36, and 40 of the middle floor.

Upper level

Cosmic esshounds can be found on platforms 9, 10, and 14 of the upper floor.
