The Steel knife is a members-only Ranged projectile. The player must have at least 5 Ranged to wield this throwing knife. They can be obtained either by using the Smithing skill or trading with another player. Steel knives can be poisoned and wielded with a shield or god book for protection. Steel knives are rarely and not recomendedly used, as Mithril darts have the exact same bonuses and speed and are a third of the cost. However, mithril darts do not sell commonly.

To create steel knives, the player must have at least 37 Smithing. Each steel bar creates 5 steel knives, granting the player 37.5 Smithing experience.

Martin Thwait at the Rogue's Den sells Steel knives for 68 coins each, but you may only buy 100 per day.

Steel knives are also rarely generated by Ava's accumulator.
