The Katagon kiteshield (Tier 8) is an item that can only be obtained and used while Dungeoneering. It requires level 70 Defence to wear. It may be picked up from the table at the beginning of a dungeon, obtained as a monster drop, or produced using the Smithing skill.

Compared to a Dragonfire shield, a Katagon kiteshield's slash, crush and ranged defence bonuses are 10 higher, 2 lower and 1 higher respectively, with the slash bonus only beaten by a Chaotic kiteshield (+90) among surface shields, being 5 lower. However, its stab defence is noticeably poor, 1 lower than a Dragon sq shield. Like all other equipment in Daemonheim, it has 0 summoning defence but this is not important as no creature in Daemonheim uses Summoning.

It can be produced by using 3 Katagon bars with a hammer on an anvil, requiring level 76 Smithing and granting 228 Smithing experience.

This item is less commonly produced by smithing than other pieces of equipment are, as many melee fighters will prefer to use two-handed weapons such as the Katagon spear and Katagon maul, and these weapons can not be wielded with a shield. Also, players with exactly 3 Katagon bars to use for gaining Smithing experience will generally prefer to produce Katagon platelegs instead, as they give more experience per bar than the kiteshield.
