The Katagon maul is a (Tier 8) weapon available in the dungeoneering skill so it is only available while in the dungeon while training the skill. This has the highest attack stat (crush) of all katagon weapons, and is therefore favoured by many players. The weapon below this in attack stats is the katagon 2h sword. The two weapons stated thus far have the same attack rate, but the maul's actual attack is slower. This means that if two players both started attacking a monster at the same time, the two handed sword would hit before the maul, but their attack rates would be the same. As it is Tier 8 it is possible to find this is in starting room, however the next maul, the gorgonite maul can not be found. It is the third best smithable maul while doing the skill dungeoneering and it is the fourth best maul in dungeoneering over all. Level 78 smithing and 4 katagon bars are needed to create this item.
