A Granite body is a members-only piece of armour and the third piece of granite armour to be released. To wear a Granite body, the player must have at least level 50 Strength and level 50 Defence. It is the only item from the Barbarian Assault activity that cannot be obtained with points; it can only be obtained after a Penance Queen kill (if the player also pays 95,000 coins), by trading with another player, or through the Grand Exchange in Varrock.

The Granite body's stats are higher than a Rune platebody's. As it is a relatively cheap item with low requirements, it has become a popular piece of equipment for medium level members who want higher stats than Rune Armour but do not want to purchase Dragon Armour because of its price. It is also popular among players that do not wish to do the quest Dragon Slayer, or obtain a Fighter torso or a Bandos chestplate.

Granite equipment cannot be carved from granite that can be mined from the quarry.

The Granite body does not interfere with Ava's accumulator and is the heaviest item worn on the chest in the game.

Usefulness

Even though the Granite body has been flagged as a noob item, the armour piece provides great stats and value for those who cannot afford spending millions for a Dragon chainbody, Dragon platebody or a Bandos chestplate.

As can be seen from stat comparison, the Granite body's stats excel over a Rune platebody's in all aspects, thus making a Granite body the favourable choice when choosing which one of these two to wear.

As for choosing between the Granite body and the Fighter torso (which according to many players is the better choice), the Granite body gives +21 more stab, -1 less slash, +17 more crush and an impressive +30 more ranged defence than the torso. However, against slashing opponents the torso is slightly better (by +1 slash). Also, the fighter torso has a +4 Strength bonus which the granite body lacks.

It has to be noted though that the Granite body weighs much more than the other armour pieces mentioned here(for instance, the granite body weighs more than 3 times the rune platebody does, 22 kg vs 9 kg), though this is rarely a problem as not many players need to run that often when training melee (or in other purposes where proper melee armour is needed). However, it really slow the player down if the player needs to run into remote location for slayer assignment or questing.

Due to facts mentioned above, the Granite body is an excellent armour piece to use if the player can't afford the better and at least 50 times more expensive body armour pieces.

Note: Stat-wise, this is just an upgraded rune platebody and is still largely inferior to the Dragon chainbody, Dragon platebody and Bandos chestplate. Thus, if you want to go boss fighting, a better option with cost still in mind is either a Dharok's platebody or a Guthan's platebody.
