The flameburst defender is a defender released with the Dungeoneering skill on 12 April 2010. It is held in the shield slot. It is dropped by pyrefiends inside the dungeons. It requires 33 Defence and Magic to wield. Unlike other defenders, which require Attack levels, this one requires a specific Magic level.

The effects of using a Flameburst defender in conjunction with a Hailstorm dagger.

When the Flameburst defender is equipped along with a frostbite dagger, your maximum damage is reduced by 10, which is somewhat mitigated by the strength bonus, and your Attack is boosted by +10% and the dagger's extra damage is increased from 50 to 100. The hailstorm dagger, when wielded, will also receive this damage boost from the defender.

Trivia

• This is the only defender available in Daemonheim.
• This defender has a different 'parry' animation compared to the other defenders in the game.
• The flameburst defender is not just the only defender without negative magic attack/defence bonuses, but also the only defender to actually give positive bonuses in these fields.
• The Flameburst Defender currently has a glitch where the wearer wields it in the same hand as their weapon.
