Boots of lightness are weight-reducing equipment. Although they (or some other weight-reducing item) are required during the Temple of Ikov (quest), they are still obtainable and wearable by any member, even if they haven't started the quest. They can be found behind spiderwebs in a darkened room down the stairs west from the entrance of the Temple of Ikov (dungeon). A light source and a knife or any weapon with a slash attack is needed to get to them. The boots respawn in exactly 38 seconds, making it very convenient to pick up several pairs on a single visit.

Boots of lightness lower the player's weight when worn, taking 4.5 kilograms off the player's back. Because of this unusual attribute, Boots of lightness are extremely popular with runecrafters, players training agility, running all sorts of minigames such as the Sorceress's Garden, and various other uses, because it keeps the total weight of a player down so that run energy decreases slower. This, however, only works on pay-to-play worlds. In free-to-play, they keep their inventory weight of 0.3 kilograms. Their combat statistics are similar to Leather boots, with only slightly better stab defence, making them a poor choice for combat situations (in comparison to Metal boots).

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to complete, start or even have any of the requirements for the Temple of Ikov quest to access or wear these boots.
